Nordic skiing appears to offer outstanding opportunity and growth for the “kids” of the world. I am just amazed at the respect and hospitality that has been extended to Kikkan over the years. The founder of the Girl Scouts of America is a second cousin of my grandfather, and I see Kikkan as the modern era princess of American Olympic Skiing– another fine example manifest from a family tree that has demonstrated the power and grace of the creative human spirit, the child within us all.

@carefulcarpenter I met Kikkan down here at Hardwood Ski & Bike (near Toronto) in the summer of 2010, when she attended one of our training camps as a guest athlete. She is a phenomenal athlete and a great person. She really inspired our youngsters and spent a lot of time with them. She’s a total class act and you can be a very proud uncle. We consider her an adoptive member of the Canadian team and wish her all the best this season!

@klisterhead You are very gracious. Pride is not my motivation, in the sense that Kikkan’s achievement has little to do with me, but I am very happy that she has a means to share some great family and personal traits with young people. Many families are burdened with selfish ego needs and nordic skiing is not a high profile sport in the United States. I played college football and was very fortunate to associate with great and inspiring people. Our world needs fun and fair competition.
